About these terms

These terms explain how to use halau.ca and what the directory does and doesn't promise. halau.ca is a community project of AlohaFest Toronto. By using the site, you agree to the points below. We've kept them in plain language.

The schools are independent

halau.ca is a directory. The hula hālau and Polynesian dance studios listed here are independent organizations that we don't own, run or represent. We don't teach classes, and a listing is not a recommendation, endorsement or guarantee of any school. Choosing a school, and confirming it's the right fit for you, is up to you.

Accuracy of listings

Most listings are compiled from publicly available information, and details change: schedules, locations, contact details and styles taught can all move. We aim to keep the directory current, but we can't guarantee that every detail is complete or up to date. Please confirm the important details with the school directly, through its own website or contact channels, before you visit or enrol.

Links to other sites

Listings and events link out to schools' own websites and social media pages. Those sites aren't ours, and we're not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices. A link is there to help you reach the school, not to endorse what's on the other end.

Corrections and removal

If something is wrong or out of date, or a school would like its listing changed or removed, let us know through our submission form or by email. We review every request and act on it as quickly as a small volunteer team can.

Advertising

halau.ca may display advertising to help cover the cost of running the directory. Ads are chosen by the ad network, not by us, and an ad appearing on the site is not an endorsement of the product, service or advertiser. How advertising and tracking are handled is described in our privacy policy.

Names, logos and marks

School names, logos and other trademarks shown in listings belong to the schools and their owners. They appear here to identify each school in the directory, not to claim any right in them. Photographs and other content contributed by a school remain theirs.

How we handle personal information (including submissions, analytics and advertising) is set out separately in our privacy policy. Please read it alongside these terms.
