About

Hālau Hula I Ka Lā — "Hula School in the Sun" — shares the Aloha Spirit through the Hawaiian art of hula. We are the Toronto sister school of Hālau Hula I Ka Lā in Clovis, California, and the presenting hālau of AlohaFest Toronto, the city's first and only united celebration of Polynesian culture. Our haumāna (students) study both kahiko and ʻauana — the ancient and modern styles of hula — alongside oli (chant), mele (song) and the moʻolelo (stories) each dance carries. All ages, all backgrounds and all experience levels are welcome. E komo mai — come join our ʻohana.
